Their commitment to environmental conservation and quality in their product is greatly valued by our development team. Their environmental performance has been “Gold Rated” since 2011 by the Leather Working Group, the highest level of international certification for environmentally conscious leather production.

Blackboard leather is Italian full grain calf skin featuring a waxed finish to create a two-tone vintage look. This look is obtained by dying the leather for color consistency and then surface finish with a natural and transparent wax that will for a solidified white glaze. As this glaze diminished with use and wear, the base color of the leather is revealed and it acquires a soft patina that adds to its vintage look. The Blackboard leather changes with wear and time, enhancing its distinctive character and charm.

Waterdanka leather is Italian full grain calfskin has been semi-aniline dyed with silicone polymer that makes it water-resistant. The aniline treatment also gives it its deep, rich color. Aniline dye is colorless, nontoxic water based liquids obtained from the organic synthesis of resins. The dye penetrates through the full grain leather, preserving its original surface with all natural markings and characteristics, leaving the rich feel of the leather intact.

How to protect your leather

This leather has barely any substance applied to their surface, which allows for the naturally soft and smooth hand to be showcased. Therefore, there is little barrier against spillage and staining. Also, this leather has been deep-dyed for a rich and long lasting color. These dyes may transfer onto light colored fabrics if wet or humid. It is strongly recommended that you apply the m0851 Leather Protector before first usage to create a shield from unwanted markings and spills.

We recommend applying the m0851 Leather Protector once in a while to increase the longevity of the water-resistant feature.
